School visit - Nhill College

The Periodic Table of Sustainable Elements chemistry outreach event visited Nhill College today!

When we first designed our program, Nhill College was just the sort of school we had in mind (rural, don’t get these incursion opportunities often). We were so happy that it was well-received. And we think the students had a great time.

In the morning we had students from years 4, 5, and 6. And in the afternoon we had students from years 7 and 8. We had an amazing small group of year 8 students as our student leaders, who thrived at the opportunity! They were running the show by the end :)

In such a big gym space it was initially a bit daunting, but it turned out an amazing venue and it gave the event a great vibe.

We wish to thank the teachers and staff at Nhill College, who gave up their class time and space for our visit. A special thank you to Ms Vivienne Bonnell, who organised the visit and was available all day to help.

Again, our amazing Deakin University student volunteers were on hand (having survived the four hour journey) and it was superb to watch them engage with the Nhill College students and share their enthusiasm for Chemistry and Sustainable Development!
