Elements of Sustainable Chemistry (ESC) were today represented at the Chemistry Education Association (CEA) November Lectures, held at The University of Melbourne, Victoria.
Seamus ran a workshop for secondary chemistry teachers, giving them an introduction to systems thinking in Chemistry education (STICE), before a series of hands-on activities. The teachers made system maps to link chemistry and the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) and made an Aluminium-air battery, which is one of the activities of the Periodic Table of Sustainable Elements school outreach event.
A big thank to the teachers! It was great to see them so enthusiastic (and committed to get the LED light to finally light up…good inquiry skills :) )
